Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Safety Control

  • BIM meeting
     November 17, 2020
     11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Presentation:

VDC, a project management tool utilizing BIM of all buildings systems to best manage a building and construction project. BIM allows designers to build 3D models representing intended design. Then shared with the contract team, this communication tool provides visual cues with information to allow information to flow seamlessly from design, to estimating, to construction management, to the construction trades, safety, and QC. In the end, the client can use the BIM to run facilities management operations, allowing for management of the building for the entire building lifecycle.  This presentation will focus on points of safety; visual and data to best plan, prepare, practice, and record requirements. In addition, this tool can be used as needed in reaction to the unplanned. You often hear of atomization…and some of this too can be automated.  Using VDC for safety allows the safety team to provide the ultimate safety control and assist the trades in planning labor schedules.

Speaker: Alissa McInerney, VDC Manager-DEN Concourse Expansion, Turner Construction Company

Alissa is the VDC Manager (Virtual Design and Construction) at the Denver Airport with Turner Construction.
