Topic:     Identifying Cultural Hazards: Four Clues You’re Out of Balance

Have you ever heard one of these statements?
*     “Management won’t do anything until someone gets hurt!”
*     “How could someone do something so stupid?”
*    “I just knew someone was going to get hurt doing that.”
*    “You had a lost time injury, what are you going to do about it?”

Each of these statements is a sign of a culture out of balance and has a profound effect on our safety, productivity, and quality results? Through stories, humor, and facts, we examine cultural and systemic elements that degrade trust and credibility preventing employees from recognizing and/or reporting near misses and minor incidents.  Participants at all levels of the organization will gain an understanding the role they play in creating and improving the culture including the pit-falls in their own behaviors.  In the end, they will gain pragmatic, logic-based tools necessary to build a culture of balance that will open lines of communication and produce outstanding safety results.
