Join us for our October Lunch and Learn: Stop the Drop – Preventing Dropped Objects Before They Become Injuries
A practical construction safety session with a message members can share.
This presentation will build awareness of dropped-object hazards and give members a practical message they can carry into their companies, projects, safety meetings, and professional networks.
Why this topic matters
- Construction’s Focus Four hazards – falls, struck-by, caught-in or between, and electrocution – cause nearly two-thirds of industry fatalities.
- A dropped object can be as small as a bolt or as large as structural material. Its size does not reliably predict the severity of the outcome.
- The risk extends beyond the person performing the work. Employees, trade partners, owners, and the public may all be exposed below or near elevated operations.
- Most dropped-object events can be prevented through planning, securement, controlled access, and consistent field verification.
